Little River Band 50th Anniversary Tour
January 24

Get Details

Little River Band was formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1975.  It was originally a blend of musicians who had enjoyed success in other Australian acts.  Their new focus was to get airplay on American radio, and they achieved that goal with good songwriting, powerful vocals, and guitar harmonies.  They immediately claimed their place as one of the great vocal bands of the ‘70s and ‘80s.

Between 1976 and 1983, chart success in America included the following singles: It’s a Long Way There, Help Is on Its Way, Happy Anniversary, Reminiscing, Lady, Cool Change, Lonesome Loser, The Night Owls, Take It Easy On Me, Man On Your Mind, We Two, and The Other Guy.

Worldwide album and CD sales now top 30 million.  LRB also set a Billboard record in 1982 for having Top 10 US hits for 6 consecutive years…the first band ever to achieve that mark.  According to BMI, Reminiscing has garnered rare status with over 5 million airplays on America radio…and Lady is close behind with over 4 million airplays.  LRB was rightfully inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards of 2004.  In 2015 the band received the award for Musical Entertainer of the Year from the G2E group…an international panel of judges that ranks casino entertainment.

Current band membership is anchored by bassist and lead singer Wayne Nelson…a 44-year LRB veteran.  He is joined on stage by keyboardist and Dove Award winning producer Chris Marion, drummer Ryan Ricks, and guitarists Colin Whinnery and Bruce Wallace.  These great musicians have writing, touring, and recording credits that include legendary artists like Jim Messina, Kenny Loggins, Glenn Frey, Christopher Cross, Warren Zevon, America, Lonestar, Loretta Lynn, Wynona Judd, Sir George Martin, David Gates, Garth Brooks, Oak Ridge Boys, Steven Curtis Chapman, Randy Houser, Joe Diffie, Kim Carnes, Shane McAnally, Dierks Bentley, Trace Adkins, Montgomery Gentry, and Gretchen Wilson.  All five are accomplished singers and deliver the signature LRB lead vocals and harmonies at every show.  This lineup brings fresh energy and arrangements to the classic hits, making new memories for the audience out of each live performance. It’s always fun to watch as people are swept up by the show’s vitality and the volume of hits from LRB’s history. You’ll see plenty of people mouthing the words…”I love this song…I forgot it was one of Little River Band’s hits!” When you pair that with dynamic new songs being created by the band, audiences feel the power of an act with a rich history and a fantastic corps of songwriters making new music.

Eagles founding member, the late Glenn Frey, joined with LRB as a guest artist in 1988 for 2 Australian tours…culminating with a live TV performance at Expo ’88.  He spoke from the heart at that last show when he dubbed Little River Band “the best singing band in the world” in front of 125,000 concert goers.  The current lineup of LRB takes that accolade to heart each and every time they perform.

38 SPECIAL
February 7

After more than four decades, 38 SPECIAL continues to bring their signature blast of Southern Rock to over 100 cities a year.  At each and every show, thousands of audience members are amazed by the explosive power of the band’s performance.

Their many Gold and Platinum album awards stand in testament to the endurance of a legendary powerhouse.

With sales in excess of 20 million, most associate the band with their arena-rock pop smashes, “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” and more – timeless hits that remain a staple at radio, immediately recognizable from the first opening chord, and paving the way to their present-day touring regimen.

Guitarist/vocalist DON BARNES says it’s all about maintaining that intensity in their live shows.  “We never wanted to be one of those bands that had maybe gotten a little soft or complacent over the years.  We’re a team, and it’s always been kind of an unspoken rule that we don’t slack up, we stack up.  We go out there every night to win.”

Completing the team is bassist BARRY DUNAWAY, drummer GARY MOFFATT and keyboardist/vocalist BOBBY CAPPS.  The most recent addition to the band is legendary virtuoso guitarist and vocalist JERRY RIGGS.

For 38 Special onstage, it is a celebration of camaraderie and brotherhood, a precision unit bringing the dedication and honesty to a long history of classic songs, as well as surprisingly fresh new material.

Since 1976, the band has released more than 15 albums.  And from the start, they’ve toured relentlessly, bringing their signature brand of ‘muscle and melody’ to fans worldwide.

It is that steely determination that lives on in the hearts of these ‘Wild-Eyed Southern Boys.’

Barnes adds, “This music keeps our wheels on the road.  We’re a band that’s tried to stay honest with what has driven us over the years.  We started out with nothing but bold determination to make our own history and to endure.  Looking back now, it has been our greatest pride to have persevered and attained that level of success and longevity.  For us, it’s the ultimate validation.”

“The magic’s still there,” adds Barnes.  “It’s an emotional high for us to keep ‘bringing it’ after all these years. When those lights go down and we all walk up those steps to the stage and hear that crowd roar, it’s a real rush to the head.  It feels like we’re getting ready to strap ourselves in and it just takes off from there.”

Tesla

That they are still roaring and soaring should be no surprise.  That’s just how they are built.  TESLA may have been born in the mid 80s, but their bluesy, soulful sound is strongly embedded in the roots of organic, authentic, 1970s rock and roll.  The same roots that produced bands like The Allman Brothers, Grand Funk Railroad, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Aerosmith.

The ground started shaking in Sacramento, Calif., in 1984; gold country that would soon be producing some platinum.  They started out as City Kidd, until a suggested name change to TESLA, honoring the eccentric inventor Nikola Tesla who pioneered all things electrical.  Their 1986 platinum debut album, Mechanical Resonance, included Top 40 hits “Modern Day Cowboy” and “Little Suzi.”  1989’s double-platinum The Great Radio Controversy included hits “Heaven’s Trail (No Way Out)” and “Love Song.”  Suddenly, TESLA, who had been touring with bands such as Def Leppard and David Lee Roth, earned headlining status.  In 1990, TESLA helped reshape the face of modern rock music by stripping down to the Five Man Acoustical Jam, an informal collection of their biggest hits peppered with rock and roll classics by the Beatles, Stones, and others.  This album produced their biggest hit single to date, a cover of Five Man Electrical Band’s “Signs.”  Other 90s albums from Tesla include platinum selling Psychotic Supper and Bust a Nut.  The band continues to record and release material including 9 new albums since 2000 and recently debuted their new single, “Time To Rock!”

TESLA has endured many of the same taste-changing challenges that affected many in the post-grunge world, but through it all, their blue-collar work ethic and dedication to the faithful fan base has helped them not just survive, but thrive.  TESLA’s legacy is alive and well as they continue to record and sellout venues all over the world.  As comfortable, rugged, and dependable as your favorite pair of boots, they endure.  TESLA is a celebration of the greatest spirits of rock and roll.
