The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians' Four Winds® Casinos have announced the first details for Kankakee Grille, a premier dining destination, to be located inside Four Winds South Bend.® The property will also feature a Copper Rock Steakhouse, The Buffet, Timbers Fast Food & Deli, White Birch Market, Players Lounge and three bars.

"We are excited about Kankakee Grille and what it will add to the South Bend area," said Frank Freedman, Chief Operating Officer of Four Winds Casinos. "We went to great lengths to include all the elements that guests would anticipate from a five star restaurant by offering everything from shared dishes, house made pastas, flavorful vegetarian meals and unforgettable desserts. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with an open and airy feel. We know guests will come to this restaurant as a prime choice destination."

"We see this as a gathering spot perfect for any occasion, a place for family, friends and business dinners. We have a wood-fire pizza oven, a rotisserie for signature dishes and daily specials, and a hot stone for tableside food preparation. A large selection of craft beers, specialty cocktails and what we expect to be an award winning, yet approachable wine list. It's new era rustic cuisine in a comfortable and inviting setting."

The restaurant's name has special significance as well. "We wanted to incorporate cultural significance in this restaurant, as we do with all of our properties," said John P. Warren, Chairman of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. "The name refers to the headwaters of Kankakee River where the Potawatomi people hunted and foraged for hundreds of years. Since the South Bend property is near this area, it makes sense to call this new offering the Kankakee Grille."
The property is currently under construction in western St. Joseph County, Indiana. The first phase of Four Winds Casino South Bend will employ approximately 1,200 people and will have 175,000 square feet with 1,800 slots and approximately 4,500 parking spaces including an enclosed parking structure.
